A group of us came to Brook 23 last Friday. We were seated promptly. We were then served spiced popcorn. Our waitress came over and quickly took our drink orders. She didn't introduce herself or explain the menu. 1 star off. 2 of us had beers, 1 a sangria. We shared the duck fat fries which were really good as well as the tuna tartar which was the the smallest portion I've ever seen. Another star. My husband and I shared a 1/2 slab of ribs (it was a special) and the Bacon and Egg Burger. The "bacon" on the burger was all fat. It was really hard to chew (last star). The ribs were not cooked well, but the sauce was good. It has potential to be great, but it just isn't.

Very late with this review. Night before Mother's Day went to Brook 23 because we saw it on Yelp. And because of the bourbon menu. For starters I dove into a bowl of the baked potato soup which had an awesome kick to it. Now I'm a sucker for hanger steak and if it weren't for the mushrooms, which I really hate, I would gave had it. Then I saw the short ribs. Phenomenal is the word. The spinach, I needed to use a knife on. The short ribs? Cut with a fork. Flavorful, tender, juicy. I have never seen a bar with a special bourbon menu before and some of the selections were common place names. But it was suggested I try the Blanton's. It was the original single barrel and was better than expectations. Brook23 is fairly new but will certainly be around for a long time. Staff was pleasant and informative and easy to talk to. On a funny note, I was watching three televisions in the mirror over my co-diners head. There was a hockey game, a baseball game, and Scooby Doo was playing on the third. How cool! Definitely recommend Brook23.

Pretty good! They have the potential to be REALLY good, but I don't think the kitchen or wait staff are nailing it just yet. The decor is great, ambiance was nice (love that the rear room isn't overwhelmed by the obnoxious TVs at the bar), booths are suuuuuper comfy. But the food lacked the subtlety that I would expect from a place trying to do this kind of food. And the wait staff, though friendly, seemed like they were winging it a bit. Or maybe just new to the job? Awesome beers, though we were served beers in pint glasses that should have been served in 10 oz glasses. We will be back!

Pros: 1. My waitress Tessa. I loved her energy and her eagerness. If we needed something she would return in a jiffy. True waitress! 2. Duck fries. Oh man the duck fries. Pulled Duck Confit, Duck Gravy, Cheddar, and Cripsy Garlic Crumble. It was delectable! The duck was tendered , and the garlic crumble made the dish an entree. I should of ordered some to go. 3. The environment. Western decor, and big screen TVs! 4. The Lamb Burger. My friend ate the burger like it was the last day on earth. From visuals it was delicious lol. My Issue: The Pork Rib Eye with Stewed Black Beans and WaterCress The meat was not seasoned and the sauce overpowered the whole meal. You know when you eat something banal but you add some crazy sauce to make it better? Thats what they did. I don't come to restaurants to regret the food I ate. Also with the prices they charge? Come on this is not Garden City, and you are not Chris Ruth. Dessert: Seasonal Fruit Plate aka Whats Left In The Fridge. Why did I expect something interesting to come to our table? Tessa placed the dessert on the table and my friend started laughing at my reaction. So... Strawberries and Blueberries with Whip Cream. $7.00 for this? Will I come back?: No. Unless there is a a big game to watch.

Slow night. Lots of staff. Terrible service. This place will not be open long. Three of us ordered burgers...simple enough, but 90 minutes later I had to get my own seltzer refill at the bar and then get our check. I do not know where the waitress went.

Good low. Key place in a nice neighborhood. Food was extremely salty but service was good, lighting was good, Mellow light live music. Would go back for a nice spot to be with friends but not for the food.

Great reviews on Yelp, so, we figured we'd give it a shot and support a local spot. I did appreciate the buttered popcorn brought to the table to start. Other than that, unfortunately, there wasn't anything super memorable. We ordered short rib sliders, salmon deviled eggs, kale/mushroom salad, arugula/pomegranate salad and steak frittes. All okay, but, no flavors were really unique or blew me away. Didn't care for their carrot cake either, but, the coffee was pretty decent. Note - their cappuccino machine was not working and they're apparently doing away with it. Unfortunately, the wines were very heavy & average as well. The one thing that was great, was our server, Jake - personable, knowledgable all with a good personality.

Went to Brook 23 with a reservation booked, and the receptionist was bringing us to our table. Then there were these two agitated women who were angry cause they didn't get the table that they wanted. As the receptionist was showing us to our table, the "ladies" just hovered over her, placed their bags and coats on our table, and literally stole our table. The receptionist then said that the table was for us, but after two more sentences of harassment, the receptionist+boss just gave them our table. So, we ended up with a tiny table instead of a proper booth. I wasn't the happiest camper but I wasn't about to create argument with them and ruin the mood for my Valentine's dinner. However, service overall, was pretty friendly and diligent. We ordered the duck fries, cause of course...who can resist duck...on fries?! C'mon. The duck confit was cooked perfectly to tenderness but still meaty. The fries had a super crunchy outside. Topped with duck gravy and cheese, it was literally like heaven. Plus, the crispy garlic crumble added a crunch to every bite. One word: Awesome. Next up was the kale and mushroom salad. This was definitely needed to balance our meal out a little bit. Greens make you healthy. The dish was well executed--with the kale and mushroom, plus the shaved cheese for just a tad of indulgence, and lemon emulsion for good acidity. The lamb burger was ordered to medium. It came perfectly cooked and was really delightful to eat. The taste of lamb was very apparent and beautifully rendered. The goat cheese and charred onions added a nice note to the burger. Yum. Last, but not least was the roasted salmon, which was also ordered to medium. It's been the longest time since I've seen salmon cooked so wonderfully. The skin was crunchy and the salmon wasn't overcooked at all. Instead, it was very tender and the flesh fell apart. The veggies were grilled well also. Brook 23 was an amazing experience. I think it really makes up for the lack of gourmet restaurants and food in Long Island.

Meh, i had higher expectations for this place. The place itself is nice, the service is fantastic, but the food is just mediocre. The duck fries for appetizer were good, not great, same with the pretzel and pork sliders. For meal, got a burger that was lacking a little bit, my mom and dad seemed to enjoy their meal. I wouldn't come out of my way to this place, but, if in the area, probably worth it.

A welcome addition to the south shore! My friend and I went to dine at Brook 23 on a Friday evening at 7ish. The place was booked and we didn't realize it would be so busy since it was right after the holidays. Oh well, we got a cozy spot at the bar, near the guitarist of the night. He was great- took requests and made it a cool vibe to hang out in. For dinner, I had a red pepper soup which was nice and thick puréed with a good kick to it. Finished off with a little bit of goat cheese on top. Good stuff Had the truffle Mac n cheese as my entree- really great taste! It had large mushrooms in it and a nice gooey cheese- perfect consistency and large serving! Wish I saved room for the ice cream cookie sandwich I saw here on yelp- next time for sure!!

Out of the many choices in the area, we chose Brook 23 to have Easter dinner. I felt compelled to write a review because of the ups and downs of our visit. First, the place was pretty empty so you would think someone would have come right over to our table. Nope! Took the waitress about 10 minutes or so. Ill be nice and not mention her name, but I will say she had dark hair and an attitude. Maybe she didn't want to work on the holiday. We ordered drinks which took a while to come. I mean really?? There was hardly anyone in the joint. As for the food, we ordered the potato chips with blue cheese as an appetizer. That was very tasty. I ordered the braised short rib which was just ok, kinda tasteless, not much seasoning in the sauce that came with it. My husband ordered the hangar steak which was very good and cooked well. So in the end, service sucked, food was ok and again service sucked! No professionalism at all, they were all hanging out by the bar chatting...no wonder why we couldn't get drinks at a reasonable time our entire visit. There were employees hanging out sitting at a patrons table in front of us. I would consider going back if they upped their game on the staff. If it wasn't for that issue, I would have given 4 stars.

Stopped in for a bite with the wife last night on a whim. We will definitely be coming back. The drinks are well crafted with fresh juices, the food was cooked to order and tasty, and the staff is wonderful. The peach bulleit tea is a delicious addition to any meal, but when we bellied up to the bar after dinner and actually saw one put together, my level of respect for this place increased even more. Martin the bartender is a true mixologist and enjoys what he does, and the drink menu reflects that. I can't wait to try his bloody Mary. We will definitely be back.
(5)Greg B.
I cannot give this place a full 5 stars because I have not yet had the food. I have sat at the bar and sampled their bourbon list. The prices were reasonable and the diversity ensured that everyone's pallet could be sated. The bartender was knowledgeable in his scotch's and bourbons and was great talking to. Will definitely be back to try the fries.

I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars...gonna round down until I can go back and try some other menu items. I grew up in Lynbrook, and Brook 23 is a welcome addition to a town with very little to offer as far as restaurants are concerned. Decor is simple but cool, large bar area and main dining room, and a separate party room/dining area in the back. We shared the kale salad, short rib sliders, salt and pepper squid, duck fries, and overall everything was great. Duck fries were actually better than great, they were pretty damn amazing. General consensus around the table was that everyone was content. Service was good , except one entree came out much later than everyone else's. Here's my complaint: Misnomers on the menus. For example, I ordered a "Vanilla Old Fashioned" and got a jelly jar of what tasted like simple syrup, vanilla, club soda, and a dash of whiskey. Not a bad drink, but 100% NOT an old fashioned. I ordered "Salt and Pepper Squid" (with shishito peppers and grilled pineapple) and got fried calamari. It was very good and fresh, but I was expecting something different. Misleading. Moral of the story is that I will definitely be back for more.

I'm including an update to this review to mention that I received an abhorrent message from Richie S, the listed owner of Brook 23, in which he told me to go to other restaurants, that I am an ignorant know-it-all, and even included a veiled threat in which he suggested that I review the food there in front of his face. He had also mentioned that allowing users to post their reviews is wrong since it may affect his business. I find it enlightening to be able to read reviews from fellow users and I think that a good business should welcome all reviews to allow other users a glimpse into their own experience. Reviews also give valuable feedback to the management of the business so that they may have the opportunity to improve. The best and most successful restaurants know how to please customers with splendid service, delicious dishes, and alluring atmosphere; unfortunately for Brook 23, it is found wanting in all 3 of these crucial requirements I find it completely reprehensible and inappropriate to respond to a customer in such a way. I am completely flabbergasted! Be warned that if you do not like this restaurant and write a review based on your experience that you may receive a nasty message as well. My suggestion is to pass on this place if you are a fan of good customer service and a consistent experience.

This is a great new place and they have some really good food. They would blend in better in RVC or Huntington. With that said, they really stand out in lynbrook where they are surrounded by nothing but boring restaurants. The concept is nothing new, but for lynbrook it's ground breaking! We started with an order of duck fries. I have heard of this dish being done elsewhere, but I haven't tried it until now. It was awesome! So savory and delicious! My wife had the mushroom Mac and cheese, which she absolutely loved. They used tiny elbow pasta, I generally like larger pasta with more chew to them in Mac and cheese. Either way the dish was still excellent. I tried the veal and broccoli rabe with provolone sandwich. The sandwich is served with cherry peppers which I had to take off, I can no longer eat spicy foods due to acid reflux. I love spicy foods so this really stinks! Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this sandwich. The sandwich needed the brightness and the spice that the cherry peppers would have added, without them the sandwich was just one note. To sum that up; this would have been a very good sandwich, but I ruined it. For dessert we shared a chocolate chip cookie sandwich with salted caramel ice cream. This thing was freakin heaven! It was a perfect mix of salty and sweet. The cookie was so soft, it was literally melting apart. The ice cream was rich and creamy, but not overly sweet. It's clear that this place has it together. They really know how to create dishes that work. They know how to contrast flavors and textures to create great food. As for the bar, they have a good selection of beer on tap. I enjoyed the IPA that I had, though I forgot what it was called. It was $8 which is priced right. They have a strong list of bourbon, whiskey, and scotch. I'm not sure if they have any happy hour deals, but I plan on investigating that. The service was fantastic! Our waiter was very polite, knowledgable, and delivered our meal flawlessly. As for the five star review, I feel that this place is a 4.5 star. I am rounding up because they stand out so much where they are located. I'm looking forward to returning here soon.

As we were walking down the street looking for dinner, we saw this place finally opened up so of course we popped in! Brook 23 is in the old J.Mags/Village Square spot on Atlantic Ave. The decor is very Americana, and it feels clean and fresh. We were sat at our choice of table or booth, so of course we chose booth. There were quite a few people considering the soft open, but the noise level of the music and the people was very comfortable. Our server, Rob, was friendly and walked us through the menu - a great touch considering they're brand new. Overhearing other servers they're all on the same page...everyone had recommendations for their tables and something they loved on the menu. They've got a wine list, cocktails broken down to mason jars, up, and rocks - and a nice list of bourbons. The specialty cocktails are focused around bourbons, and it feels like bourbon and wine are the go-to here. As for food, they've got "bites" and small plates, salads, a few sandwiches (lamb burger, grilled cheese, chicken sandwich), burgers and a short entree list that covers meat, seafood and vegetarian. For cocktails, we went with the peach julep (Bulleit Bourbon) and the vanilla old fashioned (Woodford Reserve). Both were very bourbon-y, so an excellent choice for someone who appreciates the spirit! As an app, we decided on the duck fries. Yeah, that's duck confit on thin French fries. Oh man, it was great. It reminded me of poutin, but thinner gravy and with duck all over it. I could definitely see eating that during a night of testing the cocktail menu, or maybe even with eggs for brunch (hint, hint!). Fab start for sure! For entrees, we decided on burgers - the 1000 Island and the Chili Burger - both medium. First thing first, they actually came out medium. Stellar. Shouldn't be so shocking but it seems so rare that it actually happens! The 1000 Island tastes like the million times better version of that fast food standard with the special sauce. On the other burger, the chili wasn't spicy, and was made with cinnamon. Super flavorful and not even a little bit dry. Although we didn't save room for dessert, we went for it anyway. They have boozy milkshakes (dubbed the 21-and-over shakes)! After some debate and leaning toward the Coffee option, we ended up settling on the Peach Bourbon shake (you know, keep with the theme). Holy cow, this thing was great. Excellent consistency, roasted peaches blended in with the skins still present (which might be weird to some people but man that flavor was worth it) and a thick whipped cream and cinnamon dusted over the top. Didn't really taste the bourbon, but it's not like I missed it either. I took a shot in the dark ordering this one, but I'm so glad that we did! TLDR: ambiance is good, service is attentive, staff knowledgeable, delicious food and some surprising choices. Definitely glad it's open and we will absolutely be back.

Loved this place! So cute and great atmosphere and bar! I would give it 5 starts except for two things. I was not very impressed by the lunch menu and didn't think there were enough options. Especially healthy ones. And as for dinner, lots of options but very pricey. Otherwise, great service and food was good but not amazing.

Although the menu is extremely modern and inventive, the dishes are unfortunately poorly-executed. The warm pretzel is accompanied by a Kentucky beer cheese that simply misses the mark in terms of both taste and texture. The oysters "BLT" lacked the "B", which may be the intent, and was served with a lemon aioli that was indiscernible. The pork belly was rubbery to a point where it could not be cut with the knife with which we were provided, nor could it be pulled apart by fork. It was overly-fatty and virtually inedible. The duck fries was one of the more flavorful appetizers, although the gravy was thin and the duck was overcooked. As for the entrees, and mushroom mac and cheese would have been adequate were it not for an overdose of leeks. The smoked gouda grilled cheese was served as something more akin to an ham, cheese, and apple sandwich. The cheese was not fully melted, and the apples, detracted from, rather than enhanced, the sandwich's flavor. The bacon and egg burger was served with a thick cut bacon that resembled the pork belly appetizer, and tasted only slightly better. The burger was served alongside fries that were roughly as crunchy as potato chips. The two stars is primarily a reflection of the inventiveness of the menu, combined with an inability to execute properly at this time. While the extensive drink menu and gastopub-esque dishes are reminiscent of, for example, Station House (Forest Hills), the food quality simply does not match up -- not by a long shot.

Been here a few times since the last visit and I must say this is the best bar food you will find around. The menu items are truly so creative. Duck fries were awesome. Shroom mac and cheese hit the spot and the Sriracha wings far exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed a few Wobble IPA's which were tasty, ice cold and delicious. Excellent selection of good beers on tap. Our server, Ryan, knew what he was talking about - was friendly and attentive. Probably my favorite part of my dining experience here is the music. If you're familiar with satellite radio stations, it's probably SiriusXMU or Alt Nation. The vibe is def more RVC than Lynbrook, but it's just what Atlantic Ave needed. I love this place.
(5)Jess P.
Great new restaurant in Lynbrook (is it new? New to me, ok whatever) ! Interior is fab, wait staff is super nice and helpful, expansive menu. I ordered the Burger with Fried Egg (hello lover) and the Jungle Juice drink. Now, this is a special only for Sundays - I went on a Friday - and didn't realize, but sweet talked them into making me one. I'm so happy I did. They fill a HUGE mason jar with the blue stuff (technical term) and dump a bag of gummy bears and swedish fish in there, too. Let me repeat myself, in case you zoned out on that last sentence... GUMMY BEARS AND SWEDISH FISH IN MY ALCOHOLIC DRINK. At first you're like, wow this doesn't have any alcohol in it at all, what a jip. Keep drinking. Like a punch in the face that results in you SPOONING out all of the gummy goodness and seeing how many of your friends can catch them in their mouths once catapulted. Side note: nobody caught them in their mouths, we were all drunk. Also, i'm a lousy shot when i'm sober sooo whatever that point is obviously irrelevant. Go ahead have a great time. It's a very clean, respectable family restaurant. Don't let my review of me and my dumb friends deter you. We're an embarrassment everywhere.

Brook 23 is a cool, little gastropub on Atlantic Ave in Lynbrook. My girlfriend and I have been looking for a local spot like this for awhile. The menu was pretty unique considering other neighborhood options. We started with the duck fries, which was basically an updated version of poutine. It was probably the best french fries dish I've eaten. My girlfriend had the lamb burger and I had the wild boar ragu with cheddar grits. The meat was very tender and the grits were perfectly cheesy. I drank a rosemary bourbon sour which was very good and $10. The prices are a little bit higher than whats in the area ($18-30 an entre) but overall, I am looking forward to my next visit. Also anybody know anything about the painting class going on in the back?
(5)Beatrice C.
Came here with 2 friends on a Saturday night. At first the restaurant was empty but it got packed quick. Despite the crowd service was still good. Our server was attentive yet gave us our space as we were talking alot. Everyone ranted about the duck fries so I had to try them and they didn't disapoint. The Siracha wing special also was very good. Would definitely come back here if I'm in the neighborhood. Lots more on the menu I'd want to try.

Came here end of May. Put of pics but forgot my review, lol. My friend and I like to try new places when I come home to NY to visit. Brook 23 was this trip. So glad we decided to try here. We got here a little earlier than our reservation, but were seated right away. The atmosphere was comfortable, cozy. TV's at the large bar area, booths around the parameter, tables in the middle. Sat at a booth in back and was greeted by a cheerful friendly waitress ( I believe her name was Sarah). Now I had read the menu days before coming so I didn't need to wait. A good friend had recommended a bourbon called Blantons and Brook23 serves it. DONE! My friend also had the same. We both ordered the baked potato soup. Delish! Very rich and flavorful. Bit of a kick I wasn't expecting but nothing that got in the way of me ( not a huge spice fan) from finishing the bowl. With the lovely bourbon doing its job, I was very ready for the lamb burger I ordered. My friend got short ribs that she said were very tender, very good. My lamb burger was terrific. It had a great flavor and the goat cheese on top was divine. Creamy and rich, it complemented the burger. I ordered sweet potato fries to go with it and these arrived in a cute little pan container. They were, hands down, the best sweet potato fries I ever had. And I've had a lot. Parking on the street is limited but don't let that stop you. Just go around the corner to the municipal lot. There's even a walkway that leads practically to Brook23's front door. The place is fairly new, and I'm thinking if it was this good now, it's going to be spectacular. Every area needs a good gastropub type place. I think this one is it for Lynbrook.
(5)Ken L.
Went here for dinner with a few friends on a Sunday night. Restaurant is clean, and we were seated promptly. The waitress who served us was also very friendly, and checked up on our table multiple times. I ordered an amaretto sour which was nasty - wayyy too sour, I could barely drink it. My meal was ok, but nothing I would rush back for. Everyone I was with seemed satisfied with their meals. Overall, I'd go here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
(3)Samantha D.
I read very good things (thanks Yelpers) about Brook 23 so I was excited to finally make my way here and try it all for myself. My boyfriend and I came here over the weekend for some drinks, burgers & dessert - I was blown away! The food was excellent and very filling and the 1000 Island burger which was perfectly cooked and put together. For dessert we had the chipwich which was salted caramel ice cream between two double chocolate chip cookies. It was also amazing and fortunately big enough to be shared. Brook 23 has a great selection of beer and libations to choose from which is a always a plus in my book. The ambiance was wonderful and lively and the people were extremely friendly. I can't wait to come back and try more items from the menu - it all sounds so delicious!
(5)Ashlee C.
This is a solid 3.5 in my book but not quite a 4. Went here with friends and personally tried a blood orange cocktail, the pretzel with pub cheese, string bean app, blue cheese burger and the bacon & egg burger. The cocktail was good, the string bean and pretzel apps were an A+, but the burgers I found to be mediocre. It drives me crazy when I go to a place and the burger is served on a white, sesame seed bun that you expect to have at a family barbecue. The burgers here meat and topping-wise were tasty but they could definitely benefit from a nice brioche or club roll. Another small gripe I had was that the oil in the fryer seemed like it needed changing on the night we visited. The fries that came with the burgers were mediocre as you could smell and taste the oil. That being said, we really enjoyed the appetizers and the drinks were on point. This has the potential to be a 4 with some minor tweaks and it is a good spot to have locally in the area.
(3)Sharon K.
It was great while it lasted, but when we impulsively stopped in for dinner tonight it was closed-for good, it seems. Notice on the door: "We are closing Brook 23. Thank you for your loyal support." So now, it seems, it's no duck frites for us!
(4)Joanna L.
Went there Saturday night with my best friend to catch up and had to wait for 5 to 10 minutes for a table. Nice ambience with an acoustic guitar player not too loud very relaxing. I had the macaroni and cheese with wild mushrooms which was incredible and my friend had a Caesar salad which wasn't that much and also the fried shrimp which was delicious. The chipwich was the dessert came with two which I think was awesome for only seven dollars so that was the great. One minor downside was we had to ask for water about three or four times and also four different people asked to take our plates when we were almost done but not yet.
(4)Craig S.
This has become my favorite place to go to. They always have great beers on tap...especially IPAs. The food is delicious and the price is right for the quality you're getting. My favorite dishes are the baby iceberg wedge salad, bbq Siracha wings, pretzel and lamb burger. The service is awesome..probably the best service around so I don't understand how anybody could knock the service here I'm at brook 23 almost every day I would know...I even had my 23rd birthday here a few weeks ago. The owner/chef/manager ALWAYS makes things right, if you have a bad experience it's most likely your fault. Get a shot of bulleit and enjoy.

What???? This place just opened about 6 months ago. I noticed yesterday while walking by, the restaurant said "closed." The food was very good, and I was looking forward to going back one day. I guess the rent was too high or something. For some reason, restaurants that open in this location never seem to last at all. Within the past several years, this restaurant location has gone by several different names. However, none of the others were very good and also lasted just a matter of months. When Brook 23 opened, I thought there was some hope. I am disappointed by this news.
(4)Terrance S.
This place is a true hidden gem in Lynbrook. It gives you a city vibe, without going all the way to Manhattan. The food is awesome! The Duck Fries are a must have. The Mac n Cheese is big enough to feed a family of four! The owner Richie and staff are phenomenal. This will definitely be my "Cheers" being that I reside in Lynbrook. Also looking forward to having my Wedding Rehearsal Dinner there in the near future!!!
(5)Nerissa L.
The best item on the menu is the Duck Fries they are out of this world . This is a good looking place with potential but the food misses the mark. It aims at being so unique in its combination of ingredients that it doesn't even taste good. I support this business because it's new, I like the staff and the decor but the menu needs work. The desserts were actually good and some of the drinks unique and tasted ok. I want to give 5 stars but can't do so with the items I've tried on the menu.
(3)Lu T.
Husband and I were attracted to this restaurant by the yelp reviews, so came for Sunday brunch. We were seated immediately and received the complimentary popcorn to munch on. The popcorn has some heat to it, which makes it an interesting snack before the meal arrives. My husband ordered the lamb burger, and I ordered the bbq short ribs benedict with a coffee. The food took a while to come out, but the taste was excellent and did not disappoint! We tried each other's dish and agreed we would be back to try more items from the lunch and dinner menu in the future. I must note that we are both not fans of lamb, but enjoyed the lamb burger here because the lamb taste was not overwhelming and balanced well with the sauce and sides. We are not big drinkers, so we are happy to have Brook23 as a new brunch option in the neighborhood because it's not one of those brunches with bottomless alcohol. I would have given five stars, but the only thing that was sub-par in comparison to the rest, was the mug of 3 dollar coffee that tasted watered down and bland.
(4)Karen A.
Service is good, we tried the beef cheek tonight, and it is what it sounds like. It is tender, but the flavor is not what you would expect from beef. Great atmosphere and good music.
(4)Peter S.
The only thing I agree with each and every previous reviews is that the ambiance is nice here. I know this caliber of restaurants in this area and surrounding areas. The first thing I noticed I should have done, was to read the menu at the door. There really wasn't much to choose from. And the prices seemed a bit too high for Lynbrook. This is not Manhattan. I had the "special" 3 small soft shell tacos and I mean small, priced at $20. The taste was good, a little spicy though. But $20 for 3 tiny tacos you would get at any happy hour as an appetizer? After finishing my tiny spicy tacos, I needed something to kill my hot mouth and to fill me a little. So I ordered the mint chocolate chip ice cream, 2 scoops...because I'm still hungry. What I got was a small finger bowl/plate with the equivalent to maybe 1/2 scoop of baskin and robins portions for a scoop. I said something to the waitress about the portion size and she agreed and said they have been talking about that but obviously did nothing about it. She also informed me that she actually gave me 4 scoops instead, that's when I asked to speak with the manager, which I did. I believe his name was Mike. He was a very nice man. and wanted to know what I think. So I honestly told him. The portions are too small, the prices are too high. He seemed to take it all in but really I doubt it. He asked about the pricing of the tacos. I told him honestly, this was equivalent to a small appetizer and should not be an entree and it should be priced no more than $12 not $20. Trust me, I know prices of food in the area, we eat out at least 4-5 times a week. Upon hearing what I had to say, he thanked me and said he hopes to see us again. He made no effort to make things right by either adjusting the check or even offering us something on the house since I did tell him I'm still hungry and was going to meet friends across the street at Vincent's Pizzeria. In my eyes this man has no business being a manager of a restaurant. So after we left, we went to Vincent's across the street and both enjoyed a slice of Sicilian pizza. I had more satisfaction with one slice and a coke at a 1/4 of the price. This is my honest opinion. So if you're not really hungry and don't care about the value of the food and only want good ambiance, this is your place. For me, I feel for the price and size of the portions, I'll keep my money. If I feel like just hanging with friends at the bar, I'll have no problem with that either. I'm sure glad I'm not a drinker though. Also, I will go back there another time, only to take pictures of my food and dessert and I will post it to show just what I mean, with a copy of the check. For 2 orders of small tacos and about 1/4 scoop of ice cream, and two cokes, I spent about $54, $65 with a tip. That's just freaken high.

One of my favorite places in the area. Incredible food (we've gotten the duck fries almost every time), great service, always immaculately clean, great events on weeknights. Can't say enough good about it
(5)Natassia S.
Great food. Awesome people. I would come here again. It's a bit city in Lynbrook. Thanks brook 23 for the great food.
(4)Dan P.
I came into Brook 23 wanting to be a fan as i think a gastropub in the area for brunch and small plates and good meals is needed in the area. was very impressed by the decor. service was excellent. as suggested by other readers i had the salmon deviled eggs (impressed) along with a side salad (not so impressed, overly dressed and in need of a little more crisp greens ), an excellent seared tuna with quinoa (undercooked), warm ginger vinaigrette was both flavorful and perfectly fragrant. excellent selection of craft beer (again sorely needed in the area), there will be a next time and it will involve duck fries and brunch/kids menu Suggestions: 1) prices should be down a little to support local family like clientele 2) desert menu should be enhanced for either seasonal or additional choices beyond a tart or two and some ice creams

I don't really write reviews, but I had to write one about this place. It's a nice local place with good food and a great staff. Every time I've come they've made me feel welcomed. The atmosphere is hip, but not pretentious and you can actually hear yourself talk without screaming over the music. I suggest trying the house made chips, the devil eggs, the rib sliders, and Mediterranean plate for starters. They also have a nice children's menu. Great place, great vibe. I hope they never change.

This gastropub in Lynbrook is worth a visit for sure. They are doing some very cool, very solid things like house made chorizo, that's right charcuterie in Lynbrook, who knew. Try the chorizo you won't be disappointed. They house smoke and put a lot of effort into quality and turning out solid dishes and it really shows. The duck fries are excellent, salty fatty goodness. We had a lentil salad special that was probably the best I've ever had, well seasoned and delicious made with quality lentils that didn't fall apart, great! Good selection of beer on draft and a pretty well thought out menu. Worth mentioning is the Shroom Mac and Cheese, it let the earthiness of the mushrooms shine and the lamb burger was excellent as well. Do try the Wild Boar Ragu I enjoyed this dish with cheesy grits and a delicious low and slow cooked ragu. Next time I'm going to ask for a poached or fried egg on top, a good solid dish. This place is a gastropub so the food is on the heavier side and the wine list is very limited so don't go thinking tapas or small plates, when you come here you eat. I did drink beer this night but I look forward to trying some cocktails next visit.

Brook 23 is awesome. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are excellent and the food... The food is AWESOME! The the waitstaff is very friendly and VERY knowledgable - we had Ryan (great guy). You NEED to try the Duck Fries they are amazing, and the Lamb Burger is perfection. If you like to try new kinds of food and twists of food that you don't see in many places - this is the place to go! Highly recommended

I really enjoyed a visit to this hip new Gastropub. It has that young Brooklyn feel to it and it's a perfect fit for downtown Lynbrook. We made reservations online, because I had no idea what the crowd situation might be on a Friday night. Thankfully, it wasn't crowded and we were able to secure a nice booth. Love the decor, bluesy music in the background and the compact menu is easy to navigate. It's available to look at on their website. The staff were helpful and very nice to us. My wife ordered Salmon, and I ordered a special, Smoked Chicken Nachos. Although we cleaned our plates, my wife's Salmon was lacking and definitely needed a sauce, as it was a bit dry. I'd suggest the chef consider adding a citrus sauce, or a spicy sauce. My Nachos were excellent, and a bit deceptive, not really Mexican (as expected) style but more BBQ in style. We shared a peach tartlet for dessert which was also tasty. I'm looking forward to a return visit to sample the burgers which include a Lamb Burger. They also have a brunch menu that includes eggs and berry pancakes. Very cool place and we would eat here again. An excellent alternative to Rockville Centre. Cost for the two of us including gratuity was exactly $60.00.

Wonderful experience. We started with smoked salmon deviled eggs...delicious. I had the short ribs...fabulous. And then came dessert...Nutella and strawberry crepe. One of the best desserts I've ever had.....ever! Mother's Milk stout on tap....delightful. Great atmosphere/decor. Excellent service. Will definitely be returning!

As Jesse Pinkman would say, "Duck fries, bitch!!" Jump all over this place. The menu is a bit of a departure from the standard top 40 hits that every other restaurant on Long Island does...and the kitchen definitely has their shizzle together. Chef did time in Tuscany, and it shows. Our party of 4 was unanimous...all hits, no misses. Nice craft beer and cocktails selection. Service is really invested in the place...they care about what they're serving and whether you're enjoying your meal. I'm a little late to the party. They opened last summer and I just got here. But word's getting out, and this place is digging in for the long haul. And those duck fries? Don't let the looming threat of a myocardial infarction hinder you from your appointed rounds. Trust me. You want these. You want these badly.
(5)Nathan L.
Just enjoyed a delightful dinner at this gastropub in Lynbrook. I ordered the duck fries which were really good and very meaty. My wife ordered the kale salad with a piece of salmon which didn't look too appealing and I got the pasta special which was fantastic. Overall I would recommend this place and will probably come back
(4)Christina C.
Came here for lunch and was very impressed. Menu was definitely eclectic, more than I'm used to so I stuck with the classic burger. Best burger I have had in awhile. Music playing in the background was great and certainly added to the cool vibe of the place. Will be back to check it out on a weekend night- I'm sure it will be a blast.

Recently went here for Paintnite with a friend, I was really looking forward to it because I have been wanting to come to this place since it open. That night I had the housemade pretzel which was very tasty. Wish I had been able to order something else but painting an eating at the same time doesn't mix. So I was really excited to find out the restaurant was handing out raffle tickets to win a gift certificate(great idea, first time I've seen this at a Paintnite). Anyways my friend won it but doesn't live nearby so she gave it to me :-) So my husband son, an I came back on a Saturday night to eat. The place is very well furnished and clean (including the bathroom). Wish the lighting was as dim it was hard to see. They do offer a really neat kids menu which I really liked. We ordered the fondue blue cheese chips, lamb burger, Kids chicken tenders with cucumbers and smoked Gouda grilled cheese with roasted Brussels sprouts. Please note when they seat they give you some very tasty popcorn with this amazing sauce on it.... I ate so much popcorn that I really wasn't capable of eating anything else. Wish I could buy some of this before I go to the movies, it was that good! They food was good and really enjoyed the variety on the menu. Really looking forward to coming back for their Hangover Brunch!!!
(4)B B.
Just went here this past Saturday. It was my first time. I had Brunch. They first come by your table and place a small bucket of popcorn to each table which I though was neat and unique. First thing that came to mind was my daughter she would love this place. POPCORN!!! Sold!! I have to say the food here was excellent and different. The place was hip and staff was Awesome!! You know what else was Awesome their MImosas!!! Gotta give it to the bartender on that one!! We told the waiter the food was great he said you like brunch you have to come for dinner. I said definitely!!! See you nxt time!!

Amazing food, great drinks try the one with cider in it amazing g!! Duck fires are to die for. Wanna go again and I still have left overs
(5)Chris S.
Lamb burger and lobster roll were very awesome. Lots of stuff on the menu I want to try so this means I will be back.
(4)Mike G.
Great beer selection and great food. Lamb Burger was awesome!
(5)Tiffany F.
This place is good to go to if you're on a date. I went there with my hubby and son. The food came out quickly and was very delicious. It wasn't piping hot but at least it was tasty. It is pricey so I won't make this a regular visit. Definitely recommend it. Very spacious and there is also a party room in the back if you need a venue.
(4)Michael R.
Great menu. I want to go back to try everything. First of all, the Kentucky Cider was great! It's a must drink for any Scotch or Bourbon lover. Started off with duck fries and it was out of this world. Would even be great as an entree! Made with pulled duck confit, duck gravy, cheddar, crispy garlic crumble. The Pork Prime Rib was a special and not on the menu. Grilled and served with arugula, and barbecued black eyed peas. Delicious. Great location, decor and service. Looking forward to my next trip back.

Just moved to Lynbrook from farther east on Long Island after getting married. Brook 23 has already become our go-to spot in town for a good beer and a relaxed atmosphere. The food is a notch above your average bar/pub food and many of the dishes bring a unique level of creativity. It's tough to find a good variety of pickles as an appetizer anywhere, but they do that sort of stuff well at Brook 23! It has a Brooklyn vibe in Lynbrook. My wife and I can't wait frequent this place on Saturdays or Sundays in the fall as well since they are already advertising some awesome football specials to come!
(5)Chris F.
This bar is great, from the atmosphere to the food it nails it all. The food is great and well priced. Some of the menu items I liked were the duck fries and the lamb burger was heavenly. It was a huge sized patty topped with a nice chunk of goat cheese which is my favorite. The tuna BLT was amazing, a nice piece of raw tuna cooked black and blue to perfection. I can definitely see myself returning in the future to explore the rest of the menu items.

Good food, good service I will return.

Was excited to try brook 23. We went for out Twins 22 birthday Thursday night. Resturant large, but kind of quiete. We we reseated & our table presented a lot of good energy. I introduced my girls to the owner & waitress - as the " birthday girls". It was trivia night,. I know that's trendy, but I thought for a Thursday night, it brought the " pre weekend " feel, to a " mid - week" feel. I think the menu is a bit pricey for the area. If I was paying George Martin prices( I RVC) I want that whole feel. My husband and daughter ordered salmon ( $25) and they both agreed with seasonings , was still bland. When the order came , my daughter was having a conniption that she only had 2 Brussels sprouts, so she wanted to order a side. Our waitress never came over right after food was placed by servers, we had to seek her out. Needless to say, she got her side , bit after she finished her meal, which then brought her salmon dinner to $31.. I had the chicken sand which, which was excellent! When they cleared the table , we were still involved in the whole " trivia" thing, Tessa came over to see if we wanted dessert, which we said no. I'm just feeling that my kids aren't little anymore, I didn't need to pull the waitress to the side , to say" it's their birthday, can u bring something over after". It would have been awkward if when she asked if we wanted desert if I said , " yes, remember it's their birthday?". The experience was ehh. It had the potential to be better. We were looking for that. Would I go back- NO. . owner was nice , young guy, came over numerous times, because night was quiete, but just didn't bring a personality to the table. sorry Brook 23 , if I was totally negative

Went to Brook 23 Monday night October 20th with my sisters for dinner. I had no expectations beforehand. I was so pleasantly surprised! This place was great! Decor was inviting and comfortable. The menu was eclectic. We shared the mushroom mac and cheese for an appetizer and I was in heaven! Beet salad followed and it too was delicious. My entree was the Lamb Burger and I loved it! Service was very good too! We'll be back! Good luck to this great new place.
(5)Donna H.
I absolutely love the duck fries at this place. They are really the main reason we keep going back! The rest of the menu Is a bit pricey, but I would say def. Go just to try the duck fries you won't regret it!
(3)K S.
As far as food quality this is some of the best food I have tasted on LI since I moved here, City like flavors and menu. Exceptional food I ate; Deviled eggs with Caviar, Short rib sliders, Duck fries. everybite was more flavorful then the next. Went here fo Brunch and delicous as well- short ribs eggs benedict- still thinking about it. I plan to become a regular here. If you dont live close by - it is worth the trip.
(5)Heather M.
We moved to Long Island a few years ago & haven't been able to find a place that we liked, until now. The food is fantastic (I love the burgers, Mac & cheese & salads), the atmosphere is great (not stuffy or old fashioned) & it has the best bar/beer selection outside of the city. You should go, you'll love it too.
(5)Jeff D.
Great new place in the heart of lynbrook. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. Burgers are great and the shakes are incredible
(4)Brian M.
Cool place, awesome bites and a terrific beer and bourbon menu. Had the duck special and it was amazing.
(5)Mary R.
This place should be your local go-to for Sunday Funday. For fall, they are stepping up their pumpkin beer game with a caramel sauce and pumpkin spice rimmed glass. Additionally, their bloody Mary cocktails are unbelievably decadent and include hot dogs or shrimp on skewers- an instagram pic waiting to happen.
(5)Jill M.
Food is fantastic! Different from a "regular" pub. French fries have flavor and seasonings! Lemon infused mayo! Great beer selection. Only gripe...takes a long time for food...45 min for cheeseburger and grilled chicken sandwich on a Sunday night at 545 is a bit too long. Especially with a toddler at the table! But no worries, "the toddler" loved his meal too!

Came here for a PaintNite LI event with a few other friends and could not have been happier to discover it. We just couldn't decide what sounded better so we basically ordered everything! For appetizers the BBQ Siracha wings were so good, very meaty and the sauce was perfect. Pulled pork sliders also very good and we split the entree mushroom mac and cheese because we just couldn't pass it up- and Thank god we didnt! IT WAS PERFECTION. The entrees were duck fries, aka my new favorite meal, a lamb burger that would definitely make my Turkish father proud and a bacon cheeseburger which was also a great classic. We all already can't wait to go back!! And to make the experience even more perfect our service was amazing and drinks were creative and delish. All of us left extremely happy. Can't wait to try to rest of their awesome creative menu!
(5)Dianne S.
We loved everything...great atmosphere...great drinks...awesome food!

My husband and I had dinner here last week. So glad to finally have an amazing dining option in Lynbrook! First off the decor and ambiance is awesome. Trendy, gastropubish, without pretense. Very Americana meets England in a subtle, cool way. We had the salmon deviled eggs and kale salad as appetizers. The deviled eggs were unique and the kale salad was very good - not charred (the waiter informed us the chef made a last min menu change not to char the kale b/c it tasted better raw). In any case, I love salad and it was awesome. For entree, I had tomato soup, which was pretty good, but I wished I chose something more exciting afterwards. My husband had the duck fries, which he loved. I don't eat meat so I didn't taste it. My husband raved about it. The service was A+ and I'm a super pain in the azz diner- I always ask for modifications and have high expectations when it comes to service. So I am happy with how attentive the staff is. The dessert selection was OK, but what blew me away was adult milkshakes. What a great idea, and and excellent way to set yourself apart from other restaurants! I think the milkshake thing (if not the food), will put this on the map of "great LI food experiences." Can't wait to go back.
(5)Elyssa G.
Love this place!! Very good burgers and drinks also! They also have an amazing brunch on Sunday's which I love! Nothing bad about the place everything from service to food is perfect! And prices are extremely reasonable
(5)Kerry O.
I have been here twice since they opened last week. The ambiance is perfect for a gastropub. Its a warm, inviting, and all around rich atmosphere without being fussy - definitely draws you in and makes you feel right at home. If I had a restaurant, I would hope to find the same caliber of staff they employ. The manager, Jason, is accommodating and super friendly without being overbearing. He is always interested in the honest opinion of their customers so he knows what is working and what isn't. The food was absolutely incredible. I came with two friends on my last visit and we tried a little bit of everything. Not one dish was a disappointment. I highly recommend the duck fries (and I don't even really like duck!), the drunken mussels, the shroom mac & cheese and the roasted chicken (simple dish done so well. perfectly seasoned skin and cooked to absolute perfection. it was so juicy and flavorful. Did I mention it's free range chicken, as well??) Dessert was, of course, the adult milkshakes. The coffee shake & peach bourbon shake are just unreal. Do yourself a favor and add a floater to it, which is an additional shot of booze. Such an epic way to end such an epic meal. There is no question that I'll be back (probably sooner than I'd like to admit). No review will do this place any justice so just get off the computer and go try it yourself!
(5)Lynsie L.
Food and ambiance were great. So nice to have a great nee restaurant in lynbrook since I usually end up in rockville centre or long beach. Good selection of wine and tap beer. Tuna tartare was excellent also the kale and mushroom salad. My husband loved the short rib sliders ad the bacon ad egg burger. Pretzel was delish and friend said the bean and corn soup was also very good
(5)Raymond S.
This place is excellent. Great atmosphere, good beer selection, and the lunch menu is very reasonably priced for the quality. I had the short rib grilled cheese, which the waiter correctly described as "ridiculous". I hope this place lasts forever, because Lynbrook is lacking in good restaurants, and this bbq place is just what the Dr. ordered!
(5)Kaitlin G.
What an amazing place, I have been here several times with a few of my friends and every time it gets better! Most recently I was there last night with a friend for some delicious Napa Valley Pinot Noir and the grilled chicken sandwich, one of my favorites, among the many :) I had the pleasure of also catching up with one of the lovely owners Mr. Orzo who sent over one of the floor managers Rich to meet us as well, he sent over the unique and tasty duck fries which are always a treat! Among my favorites on the menu are defiantly the siracha wings and in the summer they have an amazing lobster roll which I hope to see back on the menu soon. For drinks I suggest the crisp and refreshing cucumber cosmo which the bartenders always make perfect, and if your up for a kick go with the jalapeno margarita.. it will never steer you wrong! All in all a wonderful clean and welcoming place unlike many others in the area with different menu options and a variety of classic drinks! Will defiantly be back throughout the summer because I am dying to try the hangover brunch!
(5)Pat V.
This is my second time at Brook 23 and once again very disappointing. I previously wrote a review on opening night . Tonight I ordered a burger and fries and I must say that the food is good. The bar where I sat is very disappointing. The staff not at all friendly. There was music, a guitarist that came by to say hello and he played requests. When he was finished about ten on a Wednesday the young man behind the bar started to clean the bar with Fantastik, while we were still drinking! Then my friend ordered another drink and went to use the bathroom, his drink was thrown away! This was one of my original issues and again the staff does not know how to treat customers! This staff needs a training course !
(1)Andrew G.
Burgers, sliders and duck confit are just a few of my favorite things to eat. Best pickles & homemade chips anywhere. Yummy salads & entrees as well. Check out the shakes while you're there. A great find in Lynbrook. Great atmosphere.
(5)Lori F.
Fun menu, great food, excellent service, reasonable prices. The salmon and the kale salad are delish. Duck fries are a must try at least once. My husband is still talking about the meatloaf ( it was a special). Upscale pub food with amazing service.
(5)LisaMarie R.
This place is amazing! Food is delicious and great atmosphere! Staff is friendly and drinks are great too! I've been back many times and will keep going back.
(5)P L.
Great place for drinks, food you can't get anywhere else and on occasion, very good live music. We live walking distance from it so it is convenient. If I lived elsewhere on Long Island's south shore or within traveling distance its worth make the trip. Don't expect it to be open late. It's not trying to be a pub or a bar. It's trying to be a restaurant. If your a Anthony Bordain fan, you'd look at the menu and ask yourself what would he'd order. The food is unusual but fabulous.
(5)Laurie R.
I went for the first time last night and was really impressed. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was delicious! The truffle mac and cheese, calamari and duck fries were three outstanding dishes. I can't wait to go back and try the pretzels and muscles!
(5)Christine B.
Went here with a large group of 8 people - everything was wonderful. With such a large group we ordered a bunch of appetizers: pretzel, mac & cheese, green beans - all were so good we ordered 2nds of the pretzel and green beans. Sampled many things from the menu from my co-diners and everything was great. Everyone in our party was very pleased with their meals. Plus the staff was great - didn't rush us, the owner came over to say Hello. They had live music in the bar area - which added to the wonderful atmosphere of the evening. I will be heading back real soon.
(5)Marcia M.
Wow! A NYC quality restaurant has finally come to the south shore of LI. Brook23 is the whole package... with their warm Americana decor and blues/rock music setting the mood to the knowledgable and attentive staff and management to their incredible food. The tuna tartar with crispy avocado was my absolute favorite but the drunken mussels with andouille, the short rib sliders and the duck fries were all packed with flavor and delicious!!! The entree special of sliced sirloin with creamed spinach and beer battered onion rings was a beautiful plate of food to admire, a perfect portion size and an absolutely memorable course. I have already made reservations to go back Father's Day. Don't miss trying this incredible Long Island gastropub. It will become your new favorite restaurant!
(5)Paul E.
I had the smoked salmon devilled eggs, grilled salmon with bacon dressing and nutella/strawberry crepes. They were delicious, and the staff was great too. It didn't hurt that my seahawks were crushing the chargers while I ate either.
(5)George M.
Great food, good beer menu, nice bouton selection, good atmosphere, and a fun staff. This place is well worth a visit.
(5)Madaline S.
Went here last night ...great food and even better staff ..we had my 1 year old nephew with us and the staff treated him like family ...so cute! Will def be back
(4)John S.
I have been here twice, and both experiences have be great. The duck fries are definitely worth getting, it has braised duck melted cheese and toasted garlic. Kale salad you see on every menu now, but theres had a great dressing on it that made it worth ordering if your into kale. The lamb burger was also really good but the bread was too big and thick to really taste all the ingredients. They have a great selection of beer and the service is nice and well trained. Lynbrook can definitely use a restaurant like this, I hope people support this place. Prices are reasonable as well.
(4)Margo D.
I am so happy that this place is finally here, filling the void that was The Beanery. I came here once with my husband and some friends and once to dine alone when my husband was at work. All the staff are friendly, warm and accommodating. The food is excellent. The portions are generous and the menu has an eclectic twist to it. We will definitely be back! Now, if they would only update (and clean) the Lynbrook movie theater, we would have the perfect date night in Lynbrook.
